The Tippeligaen 2003 was the 59th season of the highest Norwegian football league and the 13th season under the name Tippeligaen . The season began on April 12, 2003 and ended on November 22, 2003 with the second relegation game.

The fourteen teams in the league played against each other in a simple round-trip, so that each team played 26 games. The last two placed had to be relegated. The third from last had to play in the first and second leg against the third placed in the 1st divisjon to stay in the Tippeligaen.

Season course
Rosenborg BK won the Norwegian championship for the twelfth time in a row. It was also the 18th championship for the team. They also won the cup competition for the ninth time. It was the seventh championship and cup double.
The season was marked by the dominance of the Rosenborg BK team. On the second match day they took over the top of the table and stood there until the end. The lead over the competition rose quickly, as they all won the first seven games, and was already ten points after the tenth game day. After that it was never less. Three game days before the end of the season it was even 20 points. After the 22nd matchday, victory in the championship was certain. Rosenborg BK only lost three games, two of them after the championship was already established.
Of the newcomers, only Tromsø IL was able to stay in the Tippeligaen . Aalesunds FK, however, had to relegate to the 1st division.
