The season began on August 16, 2002 with the game RBC Roosendaal - FC Zwolle and ended on June 19, 2003 with the play-offs. PSV Eindhoven became champions for the 17th time . Excelsior Rotterdam and De Graafschap had to dismount .
In the relegation FC Zwolle and FC Volendam prevailed, thus playing in the 2003/04 Eredivisie . With that, FC Volendam creates promotion and FC Zwolle relegation.
