The 2002/03 Maltese Premier League marked the 88th season in the history of the Maltese top football league . The Sliema Wanderers became champions for the 24th time .

Compared to the previous season , the newly promoted FC Marsaxlokk and FC Mosta replaced the relegated Naxxar Lions and Lija Athletics . While Marsaxlokk was first class for the first time, Mosta was represented again for the first time since the 1987/88 season .

mode

First, a preliminary round with home and away legs was played. The first six teams qualified for the championship round, the remaining four for the relegation round. Half of the points achieved in the preliminary round were taken over, rounded up if necessary. There were three points for a win, one for a draw and no point for a loss. In the event of a tie, a decision game was provided for the decision about the championship and the relegation places. The last two placed had to relegate to the First Division.
