The First Division 1974/75 was the 60th season in the history of the highest Maltese football league . FC Floriana became champions for the 23rd time .

Compared to the previous season , the newly promoted FC St. George’s and FC Mosta replaced the relegated FC Qormi and Ħamrun Spartans . St. George's was back in the House of Lords for the first time since the 1972/73 season , Mosta played first class for the first time.

The season was played back and forth. There were two points for a win, one point for a draw and no point for a loss. In the event of a tie, a decision game was played for the championship and the relegation places. The last two placed had to be relegated to the Second Division.
