The First Division 1927/28 was the 17th season in the history of the highest Maltese football league . FC Floriana became champions for the eighth time .

Compared to the previous season , the Valletta Rovers did not participate. Valletta United and Sliema Rangers were new after a year break , Marsa United after seven years and Cottonera FC after nine years .

The season was played in a simple round. There were two points for a win, one point for a draw and no point for a loss. If there was a tie, a playoff was played for the championship.
