The First Division 1970/71 was the 56th season in the history of the highest Maltese football league . The Sliema Wanderers became champions for the 19th time .

Compared to the previous season , the newly promoted Żebbuġ Rangers and FC Marsa replaced the relegated Ħamrun Spartans and FC Msida Saint Joseph . While Żebbuġ first played in the House of Lords, Marsa was represented again for the first time since the 1960/61 season .
