The 2004/05 Maltese Premier League was the 90th season in the history of the Maltese top football league . It started on September 7, 2004 and ended on May 8, 2005. The champions were the Sliema Wanderers for the 26th time .

Compared to the previous season , the newly promoted FC Żabbar St. Patrick and Lija Athletics replaced the relegated Balzan Youths and Ħamrun Spartans . St. Patrick was represented for the first time since the 1998/99 season , Lija for the first time since the 2001/02 season .

mode

First, a preliminary round with home and away legs was played. The first six teams qualified for the championship round, the remaining four for the relegation round. Half of the points achieved in the preliminary round were taken over, rounded up if necessary. There were three points for a win, one for a draw and no point for a loss. In the event of a tie, a decision game was provided for the decision about the championship and the relegation places. The last two placed had to relegate to the First Division.
