Compared to the previous season , the promoted Xgħajra Tornadoes and Tarxien Rainbows replaced the relegated Rabat Ajax and Lija Athletics . Xgħajra was first class, Tarxien for the first time since the 1989/90 season .

The season was played as a triple round. d. H. each team played each other three times. There were three points for a win, one for a draw and no point for a loss. In the event of a tie, a decision game was provided for the decision about the championship and the relegation places. The last two placed had to relegate to the First Division.
