The Naxxar Lions Football Club is a football club from the Maltese city of Naxxar .
history
The club, which was founded in 1920, played a few seasons in the lower-class league before advancing to the top division for the first time in 1946. In the First Division , however, the team had no chance, but remained top-class in terms of sporting policy. In 1949, the team was finally relegated, the playoff for the last place in the table was lost against rivals FC St. George’s tied with points with a 4-1 defeat.
It was followed by almost four decades again in the lower class, before the Lions rose again in 1988. Again, the club held three seasons in the top division, but returned to the first division in 1994. Although the team played regularly against relegation and always placed under the last four clubs, but held in the league in the medium term. In 2002, however, she missed relegation in the relegation round and then played under class for several years. The return to the Premier League in 2015 was followed by direct relegation.
