Premier League 2018/19

The 2019/20 Maltese Premier League marked the 105th season in the history of the Maltese top football league . The season started on August 23, 2019 and ended prematurely after the 20th match day on March 12, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic .

mode

14 teams took part in the league, each of which should compete against each other twice. The last two should be relegated directly, the twelfth should have to go into relegation. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was decided that the season would end after the 20th match day. Accordingly, there has been no relegation and no team has been relegated to the First Division.

societies

Only a few stadiums in Malta have the necessary infrastructure to hold regular Premier League matches. These are Ta 'Qali Stadium , Victor Tedesco Stadium, and Hibernians Football Ground . Each team has its own training area, but usually no matches are played on it. The games therefore usually take place on neutral ground, which essentially makes the distinction between home and away games obsolete.
