← Fortuna League 2018/19

The Fortuna League 2019/20 (after the sponsor, the sports betting provider Fortuna ) was the 27th season of the top Czech league in men's football . It opened on July 12, 2019 with the game between FK Jablonec and Bohemians Prague and ended late due to the COVID-19 pandemic and without six games of the relegation round being played on July 24, 2020.

Defending champion and reigning cup winner was Slavia Prague .

Game operations during the COVID-19 pandemic

After the 24th match day on March 9, 2020, gaming operations were suspended until further notice due to the COVID-19 pandemic and resumed on May 23 with a catch-up game on the 23rd match day - without spectators.

The 16 teams initially played against each other twice in 30 rounds. Following the regular season, all teams were split up based on the final table and points and goals from the main round were taken over. The best six teams played for the championship, places 7 to 10 in the Europa League play-offs and ranks 11 to 16 in the relegation play-outs.

After the end of the final round, the last placed would have been relegated immediately, but due to COVID-19 infections in one participant, the season was ended prematurely with six games still outstanding and the relegation regulation suspended. The champions and runners-up qualified for the qualifying round for the UEFA Champions League, the third and fourth for the qualifying rounds for the UEFA Europa League, as did the winner from the play-off final (fifth against the best team in the semi-finals).

    The teams in places 14 and 15 should have played to stay in the league after the round against the second and third of the second-rate Fotbalová národní liga, but relegation from the Fortuna League was suspended for this season. Due to COVID-19 infection cases within the team at the MFK Karviná , the last six matches of the relegation round were no longer played.
