The U Nisy Stadium (often also U Nisy Stadium) is a football stadium in the northern Bohemian city of Liberec .
The football club FC Slovan Liberec plays its home games here. The stadium is named after the river Nisa (German: Lausitzer Neisse) flowing directly past the stadium . The capacity is 9,900 seats. The stadium is single tier. All seats are covered, the grandstands close directly to the edge of the field. In the opposite stand, white seats surrounded by blue armchairs result in the words "FC SLOVAN".
history
The stadium was built from 1931 by the Reichenberg sports club, one of the forerunners of today's FC Slovan Liberec. Large pieces of rock had to be removed for the main grandstand, which was embedded in a rock.
Slovan Liberec has only been using the stadium since 1978, before that the club played in the Městský stadium on the other side of town. The capacity at that time was 5,000 spectators. This rose to 7,000 as a result of renovations in 1995. In 1998, turf heating was installed and grandstands were built behind both gates. In 1999 the construction of an opposite grandstand began, which was completed in 2001. In 2000 a floodlight system was installed.
International matches
In Stadion u Nisy previously two internationals were played the Czech national team instead. On June 4, 2005, the Czech Republic defeated Andorra 8: 1 in front of 9,520 spectators , and Cyprus 1: 0 on March 28, 2007 .
