The Pepsideild 2020 is the 109th season of the highest Icelandic football league . It began on June 19, 2020 and ends on October 10, 2020 with the 22nd matchday.
The defending champion is KR Reykjavík

The planned start of the season on April 22nd had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Iceland . The twelve teams in the league play against each other in a simple round-trip round, so that each team plays 22 games. The two last-placed teams will be relegated at the end of the season.
The champions are admitted to qualify for the Champions League 2021/22 , the second and third placed teams and the cup winners for the Europa Conference League .

Compared to the previous year, the composition of the league changed as follows: UMF Grindavík and ÍBV Vestmannaeyjar were relegated to the 1st deild karla (2nd level) as eleventh and twelfth-placed teams in the 2019 season . The local master ÍF Grótta and the second-placed Fjölnir Reykjavík , however, rose to the first division.
