Icelandic football championship 1955

The Icelandic Football Championship in 1956 was the 45th season of the Icelandic football league . It began on June 10, 1956 and ended on September 23, 1956.

Six teams took part in the competition, each of which competed once against each other, with ÍBA Akureyri newly promoted from the second division. The title went to Valur Reykjavík for the twelfth time .
