The Icelandic football championship 1984 was the 73rd season of the highest Icelandic football league . The league began on May 17, 1984 and ended with the last games on September 16, 1984.
From this season onwards, the three-point rule was played. This means that the winner of an encounter received three points instead of two, and for a tie, both opponents received one point each.
The title went to defending champion ÍA Akranes for the twelfth time .
