The Icelandic football championship in 1977 was the 66th season of the highest Icelandic football league . The league began on May 7, 1977 and ended with the last games on August 25, 1977.
The title went to the ÍA Akranes for the tenth time . At the end of the table, promoted Þór Akureyri and KR Reykjavík, who had been playing in the top division since 1915 , had to relegate .
