The Icelandic Football Championship in 1969 was the 58th season of the highest Icelandic football league . The season began on May 26, 1969 and ended on September 21, 1969.
The league was increased from six to seven clubs, and the championship was held in a simple round-trip round as before. After he had to fight relegation in the preseason , the Keflavík ÍF was able to win the championship for the second time in the club's history this year.
Since the league should be carried out with eight teams from the next season , the last-placed ÍBA Akureyri did not rise directly to the 2nd deild karla , but played with the second of the second division for relegation, while the winner of the second division rose directly in .
