Johann Vogel (born March 8, 1977 in Geneva ) is a former Swiss football player .

Career

society

Johann Vogel is a defensive midfielder . He made his career breakthrough at the Grasshopper Club Zurich . In 2005 he left PSV Eindhoven by winning the Dutch championship and the Amstel Cup and moved to the top Italian club AC Milan .

Due to a lack of match practice, he finally decided in 2006 after just one season for sporting reasons to move to Spain, where he wore the Betis Sevilla jersey . In Seville, he was not given the shirt number 14, as was previously the case with PSV Eindhoven and AC Milan , but the number 16. On December 27, 2007, Betis announced the “amicable separation” from Vogel. On March 18, 2008, the until then club-free bird signed a three-year contract with Blackburn Rovers . On April 7, 2009 Vogel and the Blackburn Rovers broke the contract prematurely, as Vogel only played 7 minutes in the current season. On November 5, 2009 he ended his career for the time being. In October 2011, however, it became known that Vogel would make his comeback with his youth club Grasshopper Club Zurich that same year. Due to injury and illness, however, he only came to three missions.

National team

Johann Vogel completed 94 international matches for the Swiss national football team and took part in the 1996 European Championship , the 2004 European Championship and the 2006 World Championship .

Until March 8, 2007 he was the captain of the Swiss national football team. For the EM preparatory games in the USA at the end of March 2007, he was no longer called up by the then national coach Köbi Kuhn .

Private

Johann Vogel is married and has four children. He speaks German , English , Spanish , French , Italian and Dutch .
