Jelle ten Rouwelaar (born December 24, 1980 in Joure , the Netherlands ) is a former Dutch football goalkeeper who was most recently under contract with NAC Breda .
Career
Ten Rouwelaar's career began at the amateur club SC Joure. He came to PSV Eindhoven in 2002 as number two behind Ronald Waterreus via FC Emmen , where he has played since 1998 and was last goalkeeper for two seasons in the Eerste Divisie . The 1.86 meter tall goalkeeper made his competitive debut for the Eindhoven team on September 17, 2002 in a 0-0 group game at AJ Auxerre in the UEFA Champions League . In the first half of the 2002/03 season he also played two league games before being loaned out to FC Groningen during the winter break . Here too, however, he could not gain a regular place in the goal. For the 2003/04 season he was loaned to FC Twente . In Enschede he was regularly between the posts in the first half of the season, but then lost the number one place to Cees Paauwe .
From 2004 ten Rouwelaar was again a regular goalkeeper at second division clubs for two years; as a result, he was loaned one season each to FC Zwolle and FC Eindhoven . In the summer of 2006, he moved to Austria to prevent goals for FK Austria Wien . He made his Bundesliga debut on matchday 25 in the 2007 spring season against SV Ried . Since he could not prevail, he went back to the Netherlands after only one season and joined NAC Breda . Here he finally became a regular goalkeeper in the Eredivisie under coach Ernie Brandts . The team reached the semi-finals of the KNVB Cup and was third in the table after the league round, but was only able to hold seventh place after the dismissal of Brandts after the decisive round. In the following season, sixth place was enough to reach the Europa League , in which ten Rouwelaar completed all six matches of the Breda team that failed in the play-offs at Villarreal FC .
National team
After ten Rouwelaar had played twelve times in the U-21 national team ( Jong Oranje ), he only joined the Oranje A team at the age of 30 . Bondscoach Bert van Marwijk called him alongside Michel Vorm and Sander Boschker as the third goalkeeper for the European Championship qualifiers against Hungary on March 25 and 29, 2011, after the number one Maarten Stekelenburg was injured.
