Career

society

From the youth of JSV Nieuwegein Vorm came to FC Utrecht in 2001 , where he was initially without a role in the first team. In 2005/06 he was loaned to FC Den Bosch in the Eerste Divisie , where he was able to book 35 second division appearances as a regular goalkeeper. In 2006 he returned to Utrecht and has now played 33 times for the Eredivisie team; at the end of the season , the Utrecht fans voted him Player of the Year. In the following season he came due to some injuries to only eleven missions with the Utrechtern. In the 2008/09 season , coach Willem van Hanegem put his trust in him again, and Vorm was the goalkeeper in goal for FC from the start of the season, which should not change the following year. In the summer of 2011, the goalkeeper signed with the English Premier League promoted Swansea City . Before that, he played for FCU in the first game of the 2011/12 Eredivisie season . In Swansea, the Dutchman will compete with the German Gerhard Tremmel and the Portuguese José Moreira for a place in the starting XI. Vorm made his Premier League debut on August 15, 2011, the first matchday of the season, against Manchester City . The game was lost 0: 4.

For the 2014/15 season , Vorm moved to Tottenham Hotspur together with Ben Davies , while Gylfi Sigurðsson moved to Swansea in return . He signed a four-year contract until June 30, 2018. Vorm was behind Hugo Lloris substitute goalkeeper. After 13 league games, he left the club after the 2018/19 season and was initially without a club. After Lloris was seriously injured, Vorm was signed again in October 2019 until the end of the 2019/20 season to act as a replacement for Paulo Gazzaniga .

National team

When the Dutch U-21 team won the European Championship in 2006 , Vorm was part of the squad, but remained during the tournament as the second goalkeeper behind Kenneth Vermeer without any use. Early October 2008 called Bondscoach Bert van Marwijk dominance in the squad of the senior team . After regular goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg signed off due to an injury and his deputy Henk Timmer was unable to play , Edwin van der Sar, who retired after the European Championship in 2008, came back for two games; Vorm was the third keeper behind Timmer. For the friendly against Sweden on November 19, 2008, Timmer came back as number one. After half-time Vorm played for his first international match and a few minutes later had to accept a goal from Kim Källström . The rest of the game in Amsterdam , which ended 3-1 for the Netherlands, he completed without conceding a goal. At the 2010 World Cup in South Africa he was number 2 behind Maarten Stekelenburg and was not used. At the 2014 World Cup in Brazil he was a substitute goalkeeper again and was substituted on for Jasper Cillessen shortly before the end of the game for third place against host country Brazil, which the Dutch won 3-0 . This made the "Oranje" the only team at this World Cup where all of the players who traveled with them were used during a competitive game.
