Harry Edward Kane , MBE (born July 28, 1993 in Walthamstow , London ) is an English football player . The striker is under contract with Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League and is an English international .

youth

Harry Edward Kane was born in Walthamstow, London to Kim and Patrick Kane and has an older brother, Charlie. He is of Irish ancestry through his father who is from Galway . The family moved to Chingford, where he attended Larkswood Primary Academy until 2004, followed by the Chingford Foundation School (also attended by David Beckham ). He played soccer from a young age and joined a local club, Ridgeway Rovers, in 1999 when he was six.

Kane said, "Most of my family were Spurs fans and I grew up 15 minutes off the ground so I'd always be a Spurs fan." He named former Spurs striker Teddy Sheringham his childhood role model and looked him as a "great finisher" and role model for his ability to get into the box and score goals. Other childhood athletic influences he cited include David Beckham and Jermain Defoe .

Club career

Youth and first professional experience (until 2014)

Kane started his career with the local club Ridgeway Rovers . In 2001 he moved to the youth department of Arsenal , but where he had to leave after a year and returned to the Rovers. In 2004, after briefly playing at Watford FC , he moved to Tottenham Hotspur's youth academy . In the following years, Kane, who had started as a midfielder , went through all of the Spurs youth teams up to the U18. On his 16th birthday he received a scholarship from the association. In the 2009/10 season he scored 18 goals in 22 games for the U18 team. Because of his performance, Kane was nominated for two first-team cup games, but was not used. In July 2010 he signed his first professional contract, but was first used in the U19 of Tottenham. In order to collect match practice at a higher level and because the U23 was canceled before the 2009/10 season, the striker was loaned to the third division Leyton Orient in January 2011 until the end of the season . He made his competitive debut as a professional that same month when he came on in the game against Rochdale AFC . In total, he was used in 18 games and scored five goals.

For the 2011/12 season Kane returned to his home club. He made his first team debut on August 25, 2011 in qualifying for the Europa League against FC Heart of Midlothian (0-0). In that game, Kane missed a penalty. Kane also scored his first competitive goal for Spurs in the Europa League in the 4-0 away win against Shamrock Rovers on December 15, 2011. He was not used in the Premier League or in the cup competitions, in the Europa League (incl. Qualification) there were six appearances and one goal. In the winter break 2011/12 Tottenham Kane loaned together with Ryan Mason from January 1, 2012 to the end of the season at Millwall FC . There he came in the league on 22 appearances in which he scored seven goals. Although he was only active in the second half of the season with the club, he was named Millwall's Young Player of the Year.

For the 2012/13 season Kane returned to Tottenham and made his debut in the Premier League on Matchday 1 when he came on for Sandro in the 2-1 defeat at Newcastle United shortly before the end . He was also used in the re-created U23 team against Manchester United in Premier League 2 . On August 31, 2012 Kane was loaned to league rivals Norwich City until the end of the season. He made his debut against West Ham United on September 15, 2012 , when he came on for Grant Holt in the 71st minute . In the same month, Kane suffered a broken metatarsus in the League Cup game against Doncaster Rovers , which is why he was out for three months. He made his comeback with the second team from Norwich, for which he scored two goals against the U23 from West Ham. For the professional team, it was only enough for two appearances in the league and one in the FA Cup .

Since Tottenham could not sign any new strikers in the winter transfer window, Kane moved back to his home club early in February 2013. Here he came to three appearances in that month with the U23 of Tottenham, where he met against West Ham U21. On February 21, 2013, the club announced that the striker's contract had been extended to June 30, 2017 and he would be loaned out to second division Leicester City . At the beginning he was able to assert himself as a regular player and already meet on his second appearance against the Blackburn Rovers , but he quickly lost his regular place and subsequently only made short appearances as a substitute. The promotion was missed after the end in the semi-finals of the playoffs of the championship against FC Watford . In May Kane moved back to Tottenham, where he played again on May 20, 2013 in the final of the U21 Premier League in the 3-2 defeat by Manchester United .

In the following season he was initially used again in the U23, where he attracted attention with his goals and then played alternately in the first and second team. In November 2013, Kane sustained a back injury that put him out of action for a month. On April 7, 2014 (33rd matchday) he was after Roberto Soldado's injury for the first time in a league game by Tottenham in the starting line-up, in which he also scored a league goal for the first time in the 5-1 win over Sunderland AFC . He also met once in the following two games and was able to keep his regular place until the end of the season despite the return of Soldados.

After slight difficulties at the start of the 2014/15 season, Kane finally established himself in the Spurs starting lineup . On October 23, 2014, Kane scored three goals in the 5-1 win over Asteras Tripoli on matchday three of the Europa League group stage . After a dismissal against goalkeeper Hugo Lloris in the 87th minute of the game, he took the position of goalkeeper, as coach Mauricio Pochettino had already changed three times. The subsequent free kick shot flat on the man could not keep Kane. In February 2015 he extended his contract with Tottenham Hotspur until June 30, 2020. By the end of the season, the striker had scored 21 goals in 34 league games, three goals in six games in the league cup and seven goals in nine games in the Europa League . Because of his achievements, he was named England's Young Professional of the Year, Tottenham's Player of the Year and PFA Team of the Year .

For the 2015/16 season, Kane received the number 10 shirt from Emmanuel Adebayor . After scoring hardly any goals in the first few games of the season, the England international improved and was able to score ten goals in ten games by the end of the year. With his brace against his ex-club Norwich City , he scored 27 league goals in 2015, which Kane broke Teddy Sheringham's club record . At the end of the season, Kane was the Premier League top scorer with 25 goals and was once again voted PFA Team of the Year.

On December 1, 2016, Kane extended his contract to June 30, 2022. With his 20th goal of the season on April 15, 2017 against AFC Bournemouth , he became one of only four players to have scored at least 20 goals in three consecutive seasons. With two games to go, he was behind Romelu Lukaku , who scored 24 goals, with 22 goals . He overtook him with seven goals in the last two games of the season and was top scorer for the second time in a row with 29 goals. He was also voted England's Footballer of the Year by fans and named Team of the Year for the third time.

He also became the first player to score six hat tricks in the Premier League in one year . Throughout 2017, he got eight three-packs. With 56 goals in all competitions in 2017, Harry Kane was Europe's top scorer of the year, breaking the seven-year dominance of Lionel Messi (54) and Cristiano Ronaldo (53).

With two goals against Everton on January 13, 2018 and his 98th league goal overall, Kane overtook Teddy Sheringham, who had scored 97 goals, as Tottenham's most successful goalscorer in history. On February 4, 2018, Kane scored his 100th league goal against Liverpool FC . Only Alan Shearer needed less than 141 appearances for the 100th goal with 121 games.
