William "Liam" Brady (born February 13, 1956 in Dublin , Ireland ) is a former Irish football player and coach .
Career
As a player
Liam Brady began his career at St. Kevin's Boys FC and was then signed by Arsenal FC , with whom he won the FA Cup in 1979 . In addition, the Irishman was with the club in 1980 in the final of the European Cup Winners' Cup , which they lost to Valencia CF.
In 1980 he moved to Juventus Turin , where he became the first foreign player after the ban on foreigners was lifted in Italian football. With Juve he was able to win two Italian championships in 1980/81 and 1981/82 . On the last match day of the 1981/82 season, Liam Brady showed professionalism: Although he knew that he would be sold for the next season, he took a penalty in the game against US Catanzaro , converted it and brought his team the championship.
For the 1982/83 season Michel Platini was obliged by Juventus, then Brady moved to Sampdoria Genoa .
After two years at Samp , he went to Inter Milan in 1984 , where he again spent two seasons and then moved to Ascoli Calcio , where he played for a year, before finally moving back to the island to West Ham United , where he began his active career in 1989 finished.
As a trainer
In 1991 Liam Brady was coach at the Scottish club Celtic Glasgow , where he stayed until 1993, from 1993 to 1995 he then coached Brighton & Hove Albion .
