history

Home Farm was a traditional youth and junior club that acquired the license and the stadium of the traditional Drumcondra club in 1972 and thus expanded into professional football. The youth department, which still exists today and is still one of the most renowned in Ireland, was soon parted with.

Home Farm never managed to end a major league season in the top half of the table. With the introduction of the lower division, the First Division , a descent could indeed be avoided, but the descent in the 1986/87 season could no longer be prevented. Since then, the club has mostly stayed in the First Division , only playing twice for a year in the Premier Division . In the mid-1990s, Everton FC from the English Premier League took part in the club and used it to develop young players. The name therefore changed to Home Farm Everton . In 2000, Everton's involvement ended and the club's management decided to change the club's name to Dublin City.

After promotion in 2005, Dublin City played in the 2006 season in the Premier Division, but withdrew from the game on 19 July 2006 due to financial problems.
