He started playing soccer at Ittihad Basyoun , a small club near his home village, when he was 12 years old , before moving to Othmason Tanta in the town of Tanta , 30 kilometers away, a year later . At the age of 14, Salah was discovered at a youth tournament by the talent scouts of the youth department of al-Mokawloon al-Arab SC from the Cairo district of Nasr City and invited to a trial training session. After he had convinced there and was accepted into the team, he traveled the 150-kilometer route from Nagrig to Cairo every day to train there.

Salah made his debut in the Egyptian Premier League on May 3, 2010 (28th matchday) in a 1-1 draw at al-Mansura SC when he came on for Alaa Kamal in the 79th minute . In the following seasons he developed into a regular player at Mokawloon and also received offers from the largest clubs in the country, al Zamalek SC and al Ahly SC . He was also of the UAFA for Golden Boy as well as by the CAF to Africa's Rookie of the Year nominated. As a result of the stadium riots in Port Said , when 74 people were killed in violent clashes during a league match at Port Said Stadium on February 1, 2012, play in the highest Egyptian league was completely stopped. Thereafter, Salah played until the end of the season only in the U23 youth team of the Egyptian national team in preparation for the 2012 Summer Olympics .

Setback at Chelsea FC (2014-2015)

Salah at Chelsea FC (2014)

On January 26, 2014, Salah became the first Egyptian to join Chelsea in the Premier League . He signed a contract with the London club that runs until June 30, 2019. On February 8, 2014 (25th matchday) he made his debut in the 3-0 win against Newcastle United when he came on for Willian in the 78th minute . He scored his first competitive goal for Chelsea on March 22, 2014 in a 6-0 win in the league game against Arsenal . After initial difficulties and little playing time, Salah played his way towards the end of the season in the first team, where he was mainly used on the right wing. This season he came to ten appearances in the Premier League, which you finished in third, and an appearance in the FA Cup eighth-finals against Manchester City (0-2). In the UEFA Champions League , where Chelsea made it to the semi-finals, he was not eligible to play due to his appearances in the group stage at FC Basel.

In the first half of the 2014/15 season, Salah was hardly considered for the team, as Oscar and Eden Hazard were placed on the offensive flanks and Willian and André Schürrle were the first options as replacements. In the Premier League , which Chelsea won at the end of the season, he was only used three times, in the League Cup , which they also won, twice and in the FA Cup once. The then Chelsea coach José Mourinho announced after the championship that all Chelsea players on loan would also receive a medal.

Change to Serie A (2015-2017)

Salah in action at Fiorentina (2015)

On February 2, 2015, as part of the transfer of Juan Cuadrado, he switched to Serie A on loan to Fiorentina , where he signed a loan deal until the end of the 2015/16 season. He made his debut on February 8, 2015 (22nd matchday) in the jersey of the Violets in the 3-2 win against Atalanta Bergamo , when he came on for Joaquín in the 65th minute . Salah immediately prevailed as a regular player and was able to score one goal in each of the following three games. On March 5, 2015, he scored both goals in the 2-1 win against Juventus Turin in the first leg of the semi-finals of Coppa Italia , which was lost on the two legs. He also helped in the UEFA Europa League that the club reached the semi-finals of the competition, where it then failed against the eventual winners Sevilla FC . By the end of the season, Salah had scored six goals in 16 Serie A games and finished the season with his club in 4th place, which allowed them to participate in the Europa League again.

Although contractually bound to Fiorentina until June 30, 2016 , Salah did not return to Florence after the summer break. Instead, gave Chelsea announced on August 8, 2015 that Salah for season 2015/16 in the Serie A to AS Roma will be awarded. In September 2015, Fiorentina sued the FIFA against the alleged breach of contract by Chelsea , as they allowed Salah to move to Rome. The Egyptian meanwhile made his debut on August 22, 2015 (1st matchday) in a 1-1 draw at Hellas Verona . As in Florence, Salah immediately prevailed as a regular at AS Roma. He missed just three league games due to a sideband incipient crack in the ankle and another game due to a Gelbrotsperre . He scored 14 goals in 34 league games and was one of the guarantees that the Roma were now even leaders in Serie A and ended the season in third. Salah was named Rome's 2015-16 Player of the Season. In December 2016, he was named Best Arab Player of the Year at the Globe Soccer Awards .

The purchase option was used on August 3, 2016 and Salah was firmly tied to the association. At the beginning of the 2016/17 season, Roma missed qualifying for the Champions League because they failed in the play-offs at FC Porto . Also in the Europa League they were eliminated in the round of 16. In the league, however, things went better: in the end, the runner-up was behind Juventus Turin . Salah made a significant contribution with 15 goals and 13 assists in 31 games.

On June 22, 2017, Liverpool announced that Salah would switch back to the Premier League for at least 42 million euros for the 2017/18 season. As with his stations in Florence and Rome, Salah immediately established himself as a regular player in the right wing of Liverpool under coach Jürgen Klopp , whose transfer he was considered to be, and matured under him to become a world-class player. Together with Sadio Mané as left winger and Roberto Firmino as striker , he formed the most dangerous attack trio in Europe. Salah was named Africa's Footballer of the Year by both the BBC and CAF for his achievements . He was also accepted into the CAF Team of the Year .

On March 17, 2018 (Matchday 31), he scored four goals in a 5-0 win over Watford FC and his season goals 33 to 36 for Liverpool FC, breaking the club's ten-year record for the most goals in the debut season that Fernando Torres had set up in the 2007/08 season. After he had already played a key role in making it into the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League with three goals against Manchester City , Salah scored two goals in the first leg of that semi-final on April 24, 2018 in a 5-2 win against his ex-club AS Roma . This made him the first Liverpool player and the first African to score ten goals in the competition. He also scored his 42 and 43 goals this season, overtaking Roger Hunt as the second best Liverpool goalscorer within a season and is only behind Ian Rush , who scored 47 goals in the 1983/84 season. On May 1, 2018, he was also voted England's Footballer of the Year by journalists just ahead of Kevin De Bruyne .

With his 32nd league goal on May 13, 2018 (38th matchday) in a 4-0 win against Brighton & Hove Albion , Salah broke the existing record for the most goals in a Premier League season and became the top scorer in the Premier League Harry Kane . On June 1, 2019, he won the 2018/2019 UEFA Champions League with Liverpool FC by beating Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in the final.
