Ahmed Faras

Ahmed Faras ( Arabic أحمد فرس, DMG Aḥmad Faras ; * 1946 in Fedala (now Mohammedia ) is a former Moroccan football player . The left foot is considered one of the best center forwards in his country of all time. He spent his entire career at the Moroccan football club Chabab Mohammédia .

With the Moroccan national team he took part in the 1970 World Cup in Mexico . In group D, he and his team met the national teams of the Federal Republic of Germany , Peru and Bulgaria . After a narrow defeat (1: 2) against Germany, a 0: 3 against Peru and a final draw (1: 1) against the Bulgarians, the team left the tournament as bottom of their group.

Two years later, Faras took part in the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich as a member of the national team.

Four years later he achieved his greatest success as a national team, as he looks at his team in the final against Guinea , the African Cup of secured 1976th In the same year he was named Africa's Footballer of the Year .
