Club career

At club level, Timmouni first played for Union de Touarga , later Timmouni won the African Champions League with FAR Rabat , the largest Moroccan football club of its time. Later he also played at KSC Lokeren and Real Murcia , where he only had to record failures - for this reason he ended his career early.

National team

Timoumi made his debut in the Moroccan national soccer team on June 22, 1982 as part of qualifying for the 1986 World Cup against Senegal , which his team won 0-1. In 1984 he was part of the roster at the Summer Olympics in Los Angeles . Morocco failed in the preliminary round after only the game against Saudi Arabia could be won. In the end you were ranked ninth together with Norway , Cameroon and the United States . In 1985 Timoumi was voted Africa's Footballer of the Year , one year later he finally took part in the 1986 World Cup in Mexico , where he shone as "the soul of the Moroccan game" and reached the round of 16 with his team. There the team failed because of the German team .

Despite his great success, many experts believe that Timoumi never reached his full potential, also due to some serious injuries; however, he is widely regarded as the greatest Moroccan footballer since Larbi Ben Barek . In 2006 he was voted one of the best 200 players of the last 50 years by the CAF .
