Joseph "Joe" Dave Gomez (born May 23, 1997 in Lewisham , London ) is an English football player . The central defender is under contract with Liverpool and is a senior international .

Career

societies

Gomez moved up from the youth to the first team squad for the 2014/15 season at Charlton Athletic . On August 19, 2014, he made his debut in the Football League Championship in a 3-2 home win against Derby County .

For the 2015/16 season , Gomez moved to Liverpool . His coach Brendan Rodgers placed him in central defense or as a left full-back. On October 13, 2015, Gomez suffered a cruciate ligament rupture in the game for the England U21s against Kazakhstan . Exactly one year later, on October 13, 2016, he returned to team training at Liverpool. In the 2018/19 season , Gomez won the Champions League with Liverpool . In December 2019, he and Liverpool won the 2019 FIFA Club World Cup against Flamengo Rio de Janeiro 1-0 after extra time. In the 2019/20 season , Gomez and his team secured the English championship .

National team

Gomez completed in November 2012 against Wales (1: 0) and Scotland (1: 0) two games for the U16 selection of the English Football Association . On February 8th, he played for the U17 national team for the first time as part of the Algarve Cup in Portugal in the 2-1 defeat against Germany . In 2014 he took part in the selection of the U17 European Championship in Malta and won the title with his team. He was also elected to the team of the tournament . In total, Gomez played 19 times for the U17s. In September 2015 he was used three times for the U21 selection .

On November 10, 2017, Gomez made his debut in a 0-0 friendly against Germany in the senior national team .
