Sepp van den Berg (born December 20, 2001 in Zwolle , Netherlands ) is a Dutch football player who has been under contract in the English Premier League at Liverpool FC since summer 2019 . The central defender is a Dutch U19 international .

Career

Sepp van den Berg comes from the academy of the Dutch first division club PEC Zwolle . In February 2018, the young central defender made his way into the first team of his home club for the first time, having previously performed well for the U19 team. In the 4-0 away defeat against PSV Eindhoven on February 3, 2018, he sat on the reserve bench for the first time, but remained without a stake. In the 2-0 away defeat against FC Groningen on March 11 , the only 16 years, 2 months and 22 days old van den Berg made his debut in the Eredivisie when he came on for Erik Bakker at half-time . In the 2018/19 season he made 15 appearances for Zwolle.

For the 2019/20 season, van den Berg moved to the English Premier League for Liverpool , which paid a transfer fee of 1.9 million euros. This can increase to 4.9 million euros through bonus payments. In December 2019 van den Berg and Liverpool won the 2019 FIFA Club World Cup against Flamengo Rio de Janeiro 1-0 after extra time.

National team

Van den Berg made his debut for the Dutch U-19 national team on September 8, 2018 in a 5-1 friendly win against the Czech team . He scored his first goal in his second outing against Armenia on November 14th.
