Andrew Henry "Andy" Robertson (born March 11, 1994 in Glasgow ) is a Scottish football player . The left-back has been under contract with Liverpool FC since July 2017 and is the captain of the Scottish national team .

Stations in Scotland and Hull City

Robertson was born in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1994. After starting football at Celtic Glasgow , he was felt to be too small during his time with the club's U15, so he moved to Queen's Park FC within the city limits . For the Spiders initially still active in the youth, Robertson made his debut for the then fourth division team in the 2012/13 season . The left full-back acted as a regular player for the entire season and was used in 34 of 36 possible league games. After his first full professional season, the 19-year-old moved to the Scottish first division club Dundee United . The contract, which was valid until 2015, was extended early to 2016 after strong performance in Jackie McNamara's team . With United , Robertson reached the 2014 cup final which was lost to FC St. Johnstone . At the end of the season there were 36 league games to book. In July 2014, however, he moved ahead of the club after him, the Tigers of Hull City had been purchased for a fee of £ 2.85 million of his contract.

Breakthrough at Liverpool FC

For the season 2017/18 changed Robertson for Liverpool . Under head coach Jürgen Klopp , he ousted Alberto Moreno over the course of the season and became a regular in the left-back position. He played 22 Premier League games in his first year and scored one goal. In addition, he came u. a. 6 appearances in the knockout phase of the UEFA Champions League ; Liverpool FC reached the final, in which they were defeated by Real Madrid . In the season 2018/19 Robertson was a regular player and completed 36 Premier League games. Behind Manchester City , he was runner-up with his team. As in the previous year, Liverpool moved into the Champions League final and won 2-0 against league rivals Tottenham Hotspur . In December 2019, Robertson and Liverpool won the 2019 FIFA Club World Cup against Flamengo Rio de Janeiro 1-0 after extra time. For his achievements in 2019, he was elected to the UEFA Team of the Year alongside his teammates Alisson Becker , Virgil van Dijk , Trent Alexander-Arnold and Sadio Mané .

National team

After Robertson three times for the 2013 Scottish U21 had accrued, he made his debut in March 2014 in the National A Scottish . He made his debut in the international match against Poland when national coach Gordon Strachan came on for Barry Bannan in the 67th minute . In his fourth game for Scotland, he scored the first goal in the national shirt. In the prestige duel against England in their home country Celtic Park , the full-back met the interim 2-1 in the 3-1 defeat.
