Benjamin "Ben" Woodburn (born October 15, 1999 in Nottingham , England ) is a Welsh football player . He plays for the Welsh national team and is under contract with Liverpool FC in the Premier League . He plays as a winger .

Career

Woodburn, whose maternal grandfather is from Wales, was born in Nottingham and grew up in Tattenhall near Chester .

He was trained in the youth of Liverpool FC . He has been playing for its professional team since November 2016. With his first competitive goal on November 29, 2016, Woodburn became Liverpool FC's youngest goalscorer to date, ahead of Michael Owen . From August 2018 to January 2019 he was loaned out to Sheffield United . In the 2019/20 season he was on loan to Oxford United .

National team

Because of his Welsh grandfather, Woodburn had the choice between the Welsh and the English national teams. He was part of the squad of the Welsh U15, U16, U17 and U19 national team. In October 2017, he played for the Welsh national team for the first time in the World Cup qualifier against Austria in Cardiff and scored the 1-0 winner. This makes him the second youngest scorer in the Welsh senior team.
