Marko Grujić ( Serbian - Cyrillic Марко Грујић ; born April 13, 1996 in Belgrade , BR Yugoslavia ) is a Serbian football player . He is under contract with Liverpool FC .

Career

In the club

Grujić comes from the youth of Red Star Belgrade . He made his debut on May 26, 2013 - on the last match day of the 2012/13 season - in a 3-0 defeat against FK Vojvodina in the first team in the SuperLiga . In the 2013/14 season , in which Red Star Belgrade won the championship, Grujić was not used.

From mid-September to early November 2014 Grujić played on loan at FK Kolubara in the second-rate Prva Liga . There he came on five missions in which he scored two goals. Grujić then returned to his home club and became a regular player in the 2015/16 season at the latest .

At the beginning of January 2016 Grujić was signed by Liverpool FC , but played the season on loan at Red Star Belgrade to the end. Grujić made his debut for Liverpool FC in the Premier League on August 20, 2016 against Burnley FC when he came on for Adam Lallana in the 78th minute .

In January 2018, a six-month loan to second division Cardiff City followed .

After his Leihrückkehr from Wales Liverpool gave him again, this time to the Bundesliga season 2018/19 at Hertha BSC . On August 25, 2018, he played his first competitive game for Hertha BSC when he came on for Vedad Ibisevic in the 88th minute of the 1-0 win over 1. FC Nürnberg . In the 2-0 away win against FC Schalke 04 on matchday two , he was in the starting line-up for the first time. In the 1-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt on December 8, 2018, he scored his first Bundesliga goal.

For the 2019/20 season , his loan contract in Berlin was extended for another year. The Serb was always a regular in central midfield under three different head coaches and only missed a few games. After the Bundesliga season, Grujić will return to England.

In the national team

Grujić is a Serbian junior international. With the U20 selection , he became world champion in June 2015 .

On May 25, 2016, he made his first appearance in the senior national team . In the home game against Cyprus (2-1) in Užice , he came on for Nemanja Matic in the 46th minute . In 2018 he took part in the World Cup with Serbia , but was not used. Serbia was eliminated in the preliminary round.
