Adam Lallana, who came from his own youth academy, made his debut on August 23, 2006 for Southampton FC in the League Cup against Yeovil Town. Three days later he played his first league game for the second division, but came in the course of the Football League Championship 2006/07 to no other competitive game. From October 8 to November 8, 2007 he played three league games for third division AFC Bournemouth before he came to five league appearances for Southampton in the 2007/08 season. He succeeded on April 28, 2008 also his first goal in the second division. In the Football League Championship 2008/09 , the 20-year-old Lallana (40 games / 1 goal) earned a regular place, but rose at the end of the season with the financially troubled club in the third division. In Southampton's first third division season since 1960, he scored fifteen league goals, but the club missed the play-offs and thus the return to the second division due to a ten-point deduction. This succeeded in the subsequent Football League One 2010/11 by winning the runner-up behind Brighton & Hove Albion . Adam Lallana contributed his part to promotion with eight goals in 36 league games and at the end of the season was voted into the PFA Team of the Year in the third division. On January 11, 2011, he signed a new four and a half year contract.

Liverpool FC (2014-2020)

For the 2014/15 season Lallana moved to Liverpool . In his first season he was under the head coach Brendan Rodgers mostly to the permanent staff and completed 27 Premier League games (23 times from the start), in which he scored 9 goals. Also in the 2015/16 season Lallana was often part of the starting line-up under Rodgers and his successor Jürgen Klopp . He came to 30 league games (23 times from the start) and scored 4 goals. He also played 13 times in the Europa League and contributed 3 goals to reaching the final, which Liverpool lost to Sevilla FC .

Lallana completed his strongest Premier League season wearing the Liverpool jersey in the 2016/17 season , in which he scored 8 goals in 31 league games (27 times from the start). In these three seasons, however, he repeatedly missed games due to minor injuries.

At the beginning of the 2017/18 season , Lallana was missing almost 4 months due to a thigh injury and was only able to play his first league game at the end of November. At the end of March he injured his thigh again and was out for two months. Lallana only made 12 league appearances (once from the start) and didn't score for the first time. In the Champions League he could only be used twice on the way to the final, which they lost to Real Madrid .

In the 2018/19 season , Lallana did not find his way back into the starting line-up, which was also due to the fact that he had to take another month off from the beginning of September to the beginning of October due to a groin strain. He made 13 substitutions in the league without scoring his own. He contributed one goal in 3 missions to win the Champions League.

Lallana was also one of the reservists in the 2019/20 season . In December he won another title with the 2019 Club World Cup . At the beginning of June 2020, his contract, which expired at the end of the month, was extended by one month. This became necessary because the season was interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic and does not end until July. At the same time it was announced that Lallana would then leave the club. With Liverpool FC he became English champions for the first time since 1990 .

Brighton & Hove Albion (since 2020)

For the 2020/21 season, Lallana moved to Brighton & Hove Albion . He signed a contract until June 30, 2023.

A national team

On November 15, 2013 he made his first international match for the senior national team in the 2-0 draw against Chile, as did his club mate Jay Rodriguez . He was appointed to the English squad for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and played in all three of his team's preliminary round matches.

At the European Football Championship in France in 2016 , he was included in the English squad . Again he only played the three group games and was there in the starting line-up. In the round of 16, which were lost 2-1 to Iceland, he stayed on the bench.
