Alexis Mac Allister (born December 24, 1998 in Santa Rosa , La Pampa province ) is an Argentine football player who is currently under contract with the English first division club Brighton & Hove Albion . The midfielder is active for the Argentine national team .

Career

Before joining the youth of the Argentinos Juniors , Mac Allister played for the amateur club Club Social y Deportivo Parque. He made his debut in the first team of Juniors on 30 October 2016 when he in the second league game against Central Córdoba came on in the second half. He scored his first competitive goal on March 10, 2017, when he scored the only goal his team scored in the 2-1 away defeat against Instituto Atlético Central Córdoba . With three goals in 23 appearances, he contributed to the championship title and the resulting promotion of the Juniors to the first Argentinian league . He made his debut in the Primera División on September 9 when he lost 2-1 to CA Patronato . He scored his first goal in the league on March 5 in a 2-0 home win against Boca Juniors .

On January 24, 2019, Mac Allister's move to English first division club Brighton & Hove Albion was announced, where he signed a 5½-year contract. However, he will only join the Seagulls for the coming 2019/20 season , as they will loan him back to the Juniors until the end of the 2018/19 season. In the 2018/19 season he scored five times in 19 league games.

For the entire 2019/20 season, Alexis Mac Allister was loaned to the Argentine top club Boca Juniors, where he meets his brother Kevin , who joined the Xeneizes in January 2019 . Already in his debut match against Athletico Paranaense in the Copa Libertadores, he scored the 1-0 winner. He scored his first league goal on November 24 (14th matchday) in a 2-0 win against Unión de Santa Fe . He returned to Brighton in January 2020 after scoring 12 league games.

There he made his debut on March 7, 2020 (29th matchday) in a 0-0 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers , when he came on for Solly March in the 80th minute of the game .

National team

On September 5, 2019, Alexis Mac Allister made his debut for the Argentine national team in a friendly international match in a 0-0 draw against Chile .

Private

Alexis Mac Allister comes from a family that is closely related to the Argentinos Juniors. His father Carlos already played over a hundred appearances for the capital city club as a professional footballer and also completed three appearances in the Argentine national team. His uncle Patricio was also a footballer for the Juniors, as were his two older brothers Francis and Kevin . Both are currently under contract with the Bicho .
