Yves Bissouma (born August 30, 1996 in Issia , Ivory Coast ) is a Malian - Ivorian football player . The midfielder has been a Malian national player since 2015 .
Career
society
Bissouma started his career in the Majestic Academy in 2009. There he played with Adama Traoré, among others . In 2014 he moved to AS Real Bamako . In 2016 he went to France , where he joined the Ligue 1 club OSC Lille . Four months after arriving in Lille, he signed his first professional contract. In his first season in 2016/17 , Bissouma often only came for short appearances. He was used in 23 league games. He scored his first professional goal on February 11, 2017 against SCO Angers . In the following season 2017/18 Bissouma found himself more and more in the starting line-up of Lilles and came to 24 appearances in Ligue 1, in which he was able to score two goals and prepare another.
For the 2018/19 season, Bissouma moved to the Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion . He signed a five-year contract with the Seagulls . He made his Premier League debut for Brighton on August 11, 2018, in a 2-0 away defeat by Watford FC . In his first season he came to 28 appearances in the league. On July 26, 2020, he scored his first league goal for Brighton in a 2-1 away win against Burnley FC . He played 22 league games this 2019/20 season.
National team
Born in Ivory Coast and raised in Mali , Bissouma could have played for both nations, but opted for the Malian national team . He took part in the 2016 African Nations Cup with Mali . In the semifinals against Ivory Coast he was substituted on in the 76th minute and scored the decisive 1-0 in the 89th minute for promotion to the final. This was lost 3-0 to the Democratic Republic of the Congo .
