Alireza Jahanbakhsh ( Persian علیرضا جهانبخش, DMG ʿAlīreżā Ǧahānbaḫš ; * August 11, 1993 in Jirandeh ) is an Iranian soccer player . He has been playing for the English first division club Brighton & Hove Albion since the 2018/19 season .

Career

society

Jahanbakhsh made his debut for Damash Gilan in the Iranian first division in 2008 against Mes Kerman . At the age of 17 he was one of the youngest players ever to play for Gillian. He scored his first goal in the Iranian Pro League on July 31, 2013, when he scored the interim 1-1 in his team's 5-3 win against Paykan FC . On May 25, 2013, the NEC Nijmegen announced its commitment. He made his debut on the first matchday of the 2013/14 season against FC Groningen , making him the first Iranian ever to play in the Eredivisie . On the 15th matchday he scored his first two goals for the club in the game against AZ Alkmaar and scored them to a 3-2 victory.

National team

With the U-19 national team of his country, he took part in the U-19 Asian Cup in 2012 , where he played four times and scored two goals. In October 2013, he was appointed to the senior national team for the first time. He played for Iran for the first time in the 2-1 win against Thailand on October 15, 2013 when he came on for Masoud Shojaei in the 79th minute . On June 1, 2014 , national coach Carlos Queiroz appointed him to Iran's squad for the 2014 World Cup . He was used in all three games.

He was also in Iran's squad at the 2018 World Cup . In the games against Morocco and Portugal he was in the starting line-up, in the game against Spain he was substituted for Karim Ansarifard . Iran was eliminated in third place in the group stage.
