The Iranian U-23 national soccer team is a selection team of Iranian soccer players . It is subordinate to the Iranian football association FFIRI and represents it internationally at the U-23 level , for example in friendly matches against the teams of other national associations, at U-23 Asian championships and the football tournaments of the Summer Olympic Games and the Asian Games .
So far, the team has not been able to qualify for the Olympic football tournament. Iran participated twice in the U-23 Asian Cup and reached the quarter-finals in 2016 . At the Asian Games in 2002 the gold medal was won.
Players who have not yet reached the age of 23 and who are Iranian citizens are eligible to play.
