Frans Geurtsen (born February 7, 1942 in Utrecht ; † December 12, 2015 in Alkmaar ) was a Dutch football player for the Utrecht club Velox and Door Wilskracht Sterk (DWS) from Amsterdam.

Career

Geurtsen started his career as a striker at Velox in his hometown Utrecht, with whom he became champion of the Tweede Divisie in 1962 and rose to the Eerste Divisie . In the following year he was appointed to the city selection Stad Utrecht , which competed in the exhibition cities cup . He scored three of the six goals against Tasmania Berlin and the only goal against Hibernian FC for his hometown .

In 1963 Geurtsen moved to Door Wilskracht Sterk , where he scored 94 goals in 190 games in eight seasons. During this time he was with DWS 1964 Dutch football champion and was the top scorer of the Eredivisie in the 1963/64 and 1964/65 seasons . In the European Champions Cup , he reached the quarter-finals with the team. Geurtsen scored two goals in the preliminary round against Fenerbahçe Istanbul and in the first round against Lyn Oslo .

Geurtsen ran once (1964) for the Dutch national football team , where he scored the 2-0 against Albania shortly before the end.

At the age of 29 (1971) he ended his active career.
