The FC Amsterdam was a Dutch football club from Amsterdam .
history
The club was created on June 20, 1972 through the merger of the professional areas of Blauw Wit BV, founded in 1902, and Amsterdamsche FC DWS, founded in 1907 as Fortuna . For the 1973/74 season, the professional department of De Volewijckers was added, which had started playing in 1920.
The three clubs remained in the amateur sector and still exist today. FC Amsterdam took the place in the honor division .
The club's greatest success was participation in the 1974/75 UEFA Cup . The club reached the quarter-finals, but then failed at 1. FC Köln . In 1978 FC Amsterdam was relegated to the Eerste Divisie . Due to a lack of audience participation, in 1980 they moved to the old Blauw-Wit stadium. Two years later, in 1982, the association was dissolved.
