Theodorus Maria "Dick" Tol (born August 21, 1934 in Volendam , † December 13, 1973 in Amsterdam ) was a Dutch football player . He was nicknamed de Knoest , ( dt : the button ).

Career

Tol started with the juniors of the RKSV Volendam and moved to the professional team of the club in the Eerste Divisie in 1955 . He scored 30 goals in his first season. Until the end of his career, “De Knoest” was the Volendam's top scorer every season. In 1958 he reached the cup final with Volendam , which was lost to Sparta Rotterdam 3: 4. Tol scored a goal.

In the 1961/62 season he was the top scorer with 27 goals scored. Because of his good performance, he was called up for the international match of the Dutch national team on September 26, 1962 against Denmark . He had to cancel his participation due to an ankle injury three days before this game. It was the only invitation to the "Elftal".

The right-footer played throughout his active career until 1967 exclusively at Volendam in the position of the center forward . He died at the age of 39 from complications of colon - operation .
