Mounir El Hamdaoui ( Arabic منير الحمداوي, DMG Munīr al-Ḥamdāwī , Moroccan Tamazight ⵎⵓⵏⵉⵔ ⵍⵃⵎⴷⴰⵡⵉ ; * July 14, 1984 in Rotterdam ) is a Moroccan - Dutch football player .

Career

society

In 2001 El Hamdaoui started his career in his hometown with Excelsior Rotterdam . In its first season there, the club made it to the Eredivisie , the highest Dutch division. But only a year later, Excelsior got down again. El Hamdaoui remained loyal to the club until the winter of 2004/05, but then decided to move abroad. Tottenham Hotspur signed him for the sum of 750,000 euros . However, he was never able to assert himself there. Only at the Peace Cup in the summer of 2005 and in the preparatory games against Northampton Town and Aldershot Town he was allowed to appear for the club. He was able to mark hits against both teams; but it shouldn't be enough for a debut in the Premier League . In September 2006, Hotspur officials decided to loan him to Derby County . He should collect match practice with the then second division team. After six games and two hits, however, he was injured and returned to the Spurs earlier than planned. After his recovery, however, Derby did not extend the loan period and El Hamdaoui returned to Pride Park in January 2006 . Unfortunately, other injuries kept throwing him back and he never really got a foothold. In summer 2006 we went back home to Willem II Tilburg . After an impressive start to the season with three goals in four games, another injury misery put him out of action for six months. After a season at Tilburg, El Hamdaoui moved to league rivals AZ Alkmaar .

On July 26th, 2010 it was announced that El Hamdaoui was moving to Ajax Amsterdam. With Ajax he was Dutch champions in the 2010/11 season , El Hamdaoui scored 13 goals for his new club. In the following season he was transferred to Ajax's second team by coach Frank de Boer . After only one season (12/13) he moved to the Italian Serie A at Fiorentina for a transfer fee of € 800,000 . He signed a contract until July 1, 2015. On August 29, 2013, he was awarded to FC Málaga . On June 30, 2014, the loan contract ended and he returned to Florence. At the beginning of the 2015/16 season he was without a club.

National team

Although he has already played through some of the Dutch federation's youth teams , El Hamdaoui announced in 2006 that he wanted to play for the national team of his ancestors, Morocco . He played his first international match for Morocco on March 28, 2009 against Gabon . Overall, El Hamdaoui scored three goals in 15 games for the national team.
