history
Until the Second World War , the RKSV played in the Catholic football association. There the club became Dutch champions in both 1935 and 1938 . After the war, the club continued to play in the KNVB championship. In 1955 the club switched to the professional camp. A hallmark of FC Volendam are many players from the region, such as Tol, Steur, Veerman and Jonk. Another striking feature of the club are many promotions and relegations in the honor division . FC Volendam rose eight times and relegated ten times. In 2004, the club was relegated for the last time from the honor division and played in the Eerste Divisie until the 2007/2008 season . After the season, the club was able to qualify again for the honor division, in which he played again in the 2008/09 season.
In the 2009/10 season, the club had to compete for the tenth time as a relegated team in the Jupiler League , as they slipped to the last place in the table on the last day of the game, and thus directly relegated. The only bright spot of a disappointing season at the end was that the team made it to the semifinals of the KNVB Beker , which was lost 2-0 to SC Heerenveen after they had previously played against teams like Roda JC (3-2) or Ajax Amsterdam (1: 0) prevailed.
In the 2010/2011 season, FC Volendam was one of the strongest clubs in the Eerste Divisie and was consistently among the best fifth-placed, but far behind the leading FC Zwolle .
