Mark de Vries (born August 24, 1975 in Paramaribo , the Netherlands , now Suriname ) is a Dutch-Surinamese football player .

Birth and childhood

Mark de Vries was born in 1975 in Paramaribo, the capital of what was then the Dutch colony of Suriname. Only three months later, Suriname declared its independence from the Netherlands. He emigrated to the Netherlands with his family at an early age and grew up there too.

Career

Mark de Vries played in his youth at WGW Den Helder and HRC . Then he went to the youth department of FC Volendam .

In 1994 he came to their first team in the second division. In 1998 Mark de Vries went abroad and now played for the French second division club Chamois Niort . However, he only stayed there for a year before returning to the Netherlands. He signed a contract with FC Dordrecht . After three years in South Holland, Mark de Vries went abroad again. Mark de Vries moved to the Scottish first division club Heart of Midlothian FC from Edinburgh on a free transfer . After two and a half years at the capital club from Scotland , Mark de Vries went to the English second division club Leicester City . The transfer fee was in the five-digit range.

Mark de Vries could not prevail there and went back to the Netherlands on loan during the winter break of the 2005/06 season. For a few months, Mark de Vries played for the first division club SC Heerenveen . However, he could not prevail there and only came to seven missions. In May 2006 he went back to Leicester early. However, the Foxes awarded him again to the Netherlands. This time, however, to ADO Den Haag . There he came to 27 missions, but was substituted on. However, he got two goals.

In May 2007 Mark de Vries was ordered back to Leicester. However, it was awarded again. This time, however, within England. Leeds United signed him with no loan fee.

Mark de Vries left Leeds six months later and was sold back to Scotland by Leicester City for a transfer fee of 60,000 euros. Dundee United was now called his new club.

After only six months, Mark de Vries has now returned to the Netherlands and has been playing for SC Cambuur-Leeuwarden ever since .
