Gerardus "Gerrie" Dominicus Hyacinthus Maria Mühren [ ˌɣɛʁi ˈmy: ʁə (n) ] (born February 2, 1946 in Volendam ; †  September 19, 2013 ibid) was a Dutch football player . He played in midfield.

Career

Mühren began his career at FC Volendam before moving to Ajax Amsterdam in 1968 . With Ajax he was three times Dutch champion and cup winner as well as winner of the European Cup . In 1976 he moved to Betis Sevilla . He ended his career at Seiko, a Hong Kong football club . After his active career, he became a coach in the Ajax youth.

For the Dutch national team , he played ten games.

His younger brother Arnold was also a professional footballer and became European football champions with the Netherlands in 1988.

Until he fell ill with a myelodysplastic syndrome , Mühren was a scout for the AFC Ajax. He succumbed to this disease in September 2013 at the age of 67.
