Betaald Voetbal De Graafschap (pronunciation: [bə.ˈtaːlt ˈvut.bɑl də ˈɣraːf.ˌsχɑp] ) is a Dutch football club from Doetinchem .
The name De Graafschap refers to the Achterhoek or the former county of Zutphen .
history
The association was created on February 1, 1954 from the merger of the associations BVC and de Graafschap Doetinchem . On March 30, 2007, the team won the Eerste Divisie after beating FC Emmen and played in the Eredivisie , the top Dutch division , in the 2007/08 season . In the first season, however, they only reached 16th place. At the end of the 2008/09 season they lost in three relegation games to the RKC Waalwijk and were relegated. In 2010, the club achieved by first place in the Eerste Divisie, direct promotion back to the honor division. If they reached 14th place in 2010/11 , one year later after 17th place in the 2011/12 season and two draws against FC Den Bosch in the relegation due to the away goals rule, they had to start again in the second division.
(Spitz) name
The nickname 'De Superboeren' (pronunciation: [də ˈsy.pər.ˌbu.rə (n)] ) 'The Superbauer' came about as a reaction to fans of the big city clubs Ajax Amsterdam and Feyenoord Rotterdam including the players and fans of De Graafschap insulting chants "Boeren, boeren" ('farmers, farmers') "greeted".
