Frans Adelaar (born December 5, 1960 in Utrecht , Netherlands ) is a Dutch former football player and current coach.
Career
Player career
Adelaar started playing soccer at VV IJsselstein . As a professional Adelaar only played for FC Utrecht , with whom he won the KNVB Cup in 1985 , and later for the amateur clubs DOVO and HVV Hollandia . In 13 years with Utrecht, he made 179 games and 21 goals.
Coaching career
Adelaar began his coaching career in 1995 at the amateur club GVVV in Veenendaal. From 2000 to 2002 he coached a professional team for the first time, that of FC Utrecht. After a short intermezzo in 2002 with the Greek club Akratitos Ano Liosia , he returned to the Netherlands in 2003 and trained De Graafschap and ADO Den Haag until 2006 . For the 2008/09 season he was introduced as the new coach of the first division promoted FC Volendam , with whom he missed the declared season goal of "relegation" and the Jupiler League was relegated. Adelaar took up the post of coach at the Slovak first division club MŠK Žilina in April 2012 , but was dismissed in January 2013. In March 2014 he temporarily took over the coaching position at the amateur club VV IJsselmeervogels , which competes in the top class.
