Martín Montoya Torralbo (born April 14, 1991 in Gavà ) is a Spanish football player on the position of right full-back .
Career
society
Montoya came to La Masia at the age of nine . In the training center of FC Barcelona he rose from year to year in various higher-class youth teams. With the A-youth of FC Barcelona reached the final of the Copa del Rey Juvenil , the Spanish Cup for the juniors, in the 2007/08 season and lost 2-0 with his team to Sevilla FC . In the 2008/09 season he played once for FC Barcelona B , with whom he was able to celebrate promotion to the Segunda División the following year . In that season he played around half of the league games from the start and was also part of the regular staff in the 2010/11 season.
On February 26, 2011 Montoya ran for the first time in the league game against RCD Mallorca for the first team. When the score was 3-0 for his team, he was substituted on for Adriano five minutes before the end of the game .
At the end of 2011, Montoya extended his contract with Barcelona until 2014. Since the 2012/13 season , Montoya has been part of the first team's squad. There he could not prevail against Dani Alves .
For the 2015/16 season Montoya moved to the Italian Serie A at Inter Milan on loan with an option to buy . After he was hardly used there, he was loaned out to Betis Sevilla in February 2016 until the end of the 2015/16 season . There he made 13 league appearances by the end of the season.
Before the 2016/17 season , Montoya was sorted out by coach Luis Enrique after his return to Barcelona . He then terminated his contract on August 1 and joined Valencia CF , where he received a four-year contract dated June 30, 2020.
In August 2018 Montoya moved to England to join Brighton & Hove Albion . In England, the Spaniard played a total of 2 years and completed 52 games for the Seagulls.
In the summer of 2020, Real Betis signed the right-back, who signed a contract there until 2024.
National team
With the Spanish U-17 national team he was European champion at the 2008 European Championships in Turkey . Two years later he was about to repeat this triumph with the U-19 selection at the European Championships in France , but failed with Spain in the final against hosts France with 1: 2. At this tournament he played most of the time in a team with some of his Barça colleagues, such as Marc Bartra , Carles Planas , Oriol Romeu or Thiago . In 2011 he won the European Championship in Denmark with the U-21 selection . He was part of the starting line-up in all five games.
On August 25, 2011, he was appointed to the senior national team for the first time as a player on the B team of Barcelona for the games against Chile and Liechtenstein .
