Career
Carlisle United and Rochdale AFC
After his first positions at AFC Workington, Wilmington Hammerheads and AFC Barrow , the 21-year-old Glenn Murray moved to the fifth division Carlisle United in December 2004 and, after a success in the play-off final of the 2004/05 season (1-0 against the Stevenage FC) promotion to the fourth division. The season in Football League Two 2005/06 ended the promoted team with Glenn Murray (26 league games / 3 goals) as champions and thus secured direct promotion to the third division. During the 2006/07 season he played on loan for the fourth division clubs Stockport County and Rochdale AFC , before moving to Rochdale on January 4, 2007 on a permanent contract basis . In total, Murray scored sixteen league goals for Rochdale AFC in 2006/07.
Brighton & Hove Albion
After he was able to keep his marksmanship for Rochdale in the first half of the 2007/08 season (nine league goals), the third division team Brighton & Hove Albion signed the 24-year-old attacker on January 25, 2008 . After two and a half seasons in the middle of the table in Football League One , the club won the third division championship in the 2010/11 season . Glenn Murray scored 22 goals, finishing second on the top scorer list behind Peterborough United's Craig Mackail-Smith (27 goals) .
Crystal Palace
Murray decided after the end of the season against a contract extension in Brighton and moved to the second division Crystal Palace free of charge . After an average Football League Championship 2011/12 both for him (38 league games / 6 goals) and for the club , the 2012/13 season is much more successful. Murray has scored 15 goals so far in the first half of the season and has thus played a decisive role in his team's lead. On October 12, 2012 he was named Player of the Month for September in the second division.
Bournemouth AFC
At the beginning of the 2015/16 season , Murray moved to newly promoted AFC Bournemouth for £ 4m (about 5.4m euros) .
