Placement criteria: 1st points - 2nd goal difference - 3rd goals scored
1 Crystal Palace received a 1-point deduction, since the club on May 3, 2009 against Sheffield United had used the loan player Rui Fonte, who was only given a player license until April 30, 2009.
2 Southampton FC received a 10-point deduction for the 2008/09 season due to the violation of bankruptcy requirements. Since the club was relegated even without this penalty, the deduction will be carried over into the subsequent 2009/10 season.
