The Football League Second Division 1935/36 was the 40th season of the Football League Second Division as the second highest English football league . It began on August 31, 1935 and ended on May 2, 1936.

Second division champions were Manchester United and also the second-placed Charlton Athletic rose to the Football League First Division . The two first division clubs Aston Villa and Blackburn Rovers, ranked in the table below, took the places for the two promoted teams in the following second division season 1936/37 . Port Vale and Hull City had to relegate from the Second Division , with both clubs now having to compete in the North Season Football League Third Division North . Instead of the two clubs took the free positions in the following season 1936/37 Third Division North champions FC Chesterfield and from the Third Division South of the winner Coventry City .
