The Football League Second Division 1962/63 was the 60th season of the Football League Second Division as the second highest English football league . It began on August 18, 1962 and ended on May 24, 1963.

Second division champion was Stoke City and also the second-placed Chelsea rose to the Football League First Division . For the two promoted teams in the following second division season 1963/64, the two first division clubs Manchester City and Leyton Orient, ranked in the table below, took the places. FC Walsall and Luton Town had to relegate from the Second Division to the Football League Third Division . Instead of the two clubs, the third division winner Northampton Town and third division champions Swindon Town took the vacant positions in the following season 1963/64 .
